Inside the exterior mirror housing: visual display of the lane change assist system
When the lane change assist system is switched on, the yellow indicator light in the outside rear- view mirror illuminates briefly once.
# Mechanism
The switched- on lane change assist system is activated at vehicle speeds greater than approx. $15\mathrm{km / h}$ . At speeds below approx. $10\mathrm{km / h}$ , the LAC automatically switches off.
The yellow indicator light in the exterior mirrors comes on in the following driving situations:
- When the vehicle is being overtaken.
When overtaking another vehicle with a maximum speed difference of approx. $15\mathrm{km / h}$ . It is not displayed during significantly faster overtaking.
When the system monitors the vehicle behind you, the yellow lane change indicator light on the exterior mirror will flash when the corresponding side turn signal is switched on at this time.
The faster the other vehicle approaches, the earlier the display shows on the exterior mirrors.

# Side Assist
For vehicles equipped with Lane Assist, if Lane Assist is switched on, you are warned by corrective steering intervention when changing lanes in a potentially hazardous situation (for which the system has issued a warning). The same steering intervention takes place if the turn signal in the corresponding direction is operated. If steering intervention is taken over, an additional warning is given via steering wheel vibration. The steering wheel vibration in the driver assistance systems menu of the infotainment system must have been activated for this.
# Automatic switch-off
If the radar sensor is continually obscured, the lane change assistance system switches off automatically. This can be caused by the radar sensor being covered by snow or ice. The combination instrument will display a text message.
# Brightness
The visual display brightness is automatically adjusted according to the ambient brightness.
The brightness can also be set in the Side Assist menu of the infotainment system. |
