Manually Releasing the Charging Connector

When can I unlock the charging plug?

The charging plug is correctly inserted and not tilted. The vehicle is unlocked. Charging has been completed or interrupted. An automatic unlocking of the AC charging cable has been selected for charging with AC (alternating current).

If the prerequisites are met but the charging plug cannot be removed, the charging plug can be unlocked in an emergency.

DANGER

If the charging plug remains locked unexpectedly, the cause may be a fault in the vehicle or charging station. By manually unlocking it in an emergency, electrically charged contacts may be touched. Touching the contacts in the charging socket in this case can result in burns, other injuries or fatal electric shocks.

Do not touch the contacts in the charging socket or charging plug.

Before unlocking manually via the emergency unlocking device in the luggage compartment, try unlocking the charging gun electrically via the vehicle's central door lock.

Exit the charging process via the function button "Stop charging" in the infotainment system or on the charging station.

  1. Press the unlock button on the vehicle value.
  2. Try to unplug the charging gun.

  1. Open the luggage compartment.
  2. Turn the flap lock ① by 90^{\circ} .
  3. Put your hand through the opening and release the charging gun by pulling the unlocking pull ring ② .
  4. Try to remove the charging gun ① .
  5. Lock the flap again.

Immediately commission an appropriately qualified authorised workshop to check the charging port. Volkswagen recommends an ID. UNYX Service Center.
