Driving Into a Parking Space

Prerequisites

  • Park Assist Plus has been activated.- A parking space has been found and selected.- The vehicle is in the starting position and the path is shown in blue on the Infotainment system.

Driving into a parking space

Hold the vehicle with the brake pedal.

Tap "Start" in the Infotainment system. Take your hands off the steering wheel and release the brake pedal. The parking procedure for driving into a parking space starts.

  1. Observe the Infotainment system displays. If necessary, Park Assist will independently change the vehicle's direction of travel.
  2. To ensure the best possible result, always wait until Park Assist has finished turning the steering wheel at the end of the parking procedure. When the parking procedure has been completed, a text message will be displayed on the Infotainment system and an acoustic signal will sound. The electronic parking brake is switched on.
  3. Switch off the start/stop button.

WARNING

The steering wheel is turned quickly during manoeuvring. Reaching into the steering wheel can cause serious injuries.

Take over steering only when the system requests you to do so. Take over steering in a hazardous situation.

Infotainment system: taking control of the driver's parking procedure

In a difficult parking situation in which the driver has started driving into a space but not completed the manoeuvre, Park Assist can take control of the parking procedure and guide the vehicle into the parking space.

Prerequisites

  • Park Assist is not activated.- The front or rear of the vehicle has been driven into a parking space (the manoeuvre has been started but not completed).

Reverse parking

Control the vehicle with the brake pedal.

  1. Hold the vehicle with the brake pedal. A detected parking space is shown on the function button P in the Infotainment system.
  2. Tap the P function button to switch to Park Assist.
  3. To start the parking procedure, tap "Start" on the Park Assist display.
  4. Observe the Infotainment system displays.

Driving forwards into a parking space

  1. Hold the vehicle with the brake pedal.
  2. Tap the P function button on the Infotainment system.
  3. To switch to Park Assist, click on the function button P.
  4. To start the parking procedure, tap "Start" on the Park Assist display.
  5. Observe the Infotainment system displays.

The speed for automatic parking can be reduced by operating the brake pedal.

If parking spaces are located on uphill gradients, the steering wheel is automatically turned at the end of the parking procedure to turn in the wheels and secure the vehicle against rolling away.
