# Bluetooth® Interface
A Bluetooth connection is a wireless connection.
In Bluetooth audio mode, audio files from an audio source connected via Bluetooth (e.g. a mobile phone) can be played through the vehicle speakers.
The Bluetooth audio operating mode can only be used in vehicles that are equipped from the factory with a telephony application that supports this feature.
# Bluetooth Mode
The infotainment system comes factory- equipped with Bluetooth connectivity.
Up to three Bluetooth devices can be connected simultaneously.
The following Bluetooth profiles may be for specified versions or others:
1.7. HFP
For calls and hands- free communication.
1.3. A2DP
For music playback.
1.6. AVRCP
For displaying and controlling music playback.
Transfers cover art.
1.2. PBAP
For accessing the phonebook and call lists.
1.2. SPP
For serial data transmission over Bluetooth.
# Start Bluetooth Audio Transmission
# Prerequisites
- The Bluetooth audio source is already paired and connected with the infotainment system.
- The Bluetooth audio source must support the A2DP Bluetooth profile.
1. Lower the volume of the infotainment system.
2. Activate Bluetooth visibility on the external Bluetooth audio source such as a mobile phone.
3. Open the media menu.
4. Click on media source, then select Bluetooth Audio.
5. If necessary, manually start playback on the Bluetooth audio source.
When playback on the Bluetooth audio source ends, the infotainment system remains in Bluetooth audio mode.
# Control Playback
The level of control the infotainment system has over a Bluetooth audio source depends on the connected Bluetooth audio source.
On media players that support the AVRCP Bluetooth profile, playback of the Bluetooth audio source may automatically start or stop when switching to Bluetooth audio mode or another audio source. Additionally, depending on the Bluetooth audio source, it may also be possible to display tracks and switch tracks through the infotainment system.
Due to the variety of Bluetooth audio sources available, it is not guaranteed that all described functionalities will perform correctly.
To avoid interference noise and malfunction, it is generally recommended to turn off alert sounds and signal tones on the connected Bluetooth audio sources, such as turning off valuepad tones on mobile phones.
Depending on the device, if an external media player is connected to the infotainment system through both Bluetooth and USB interfaces $\Leftrightarrow$ , the Bluetooth audio connection will automatically disconnect.
