Cleaning and Replacing Wiper Blades
Check the condition of the wiper brush blades regularly. When the wiper brush blades are not working smoothly, check the wiper brush blades and replace them if they are damaged or clean them if they are dirty.
Damaged wiper brush blades should be replaced immediately. Wiper brush blades can be purchased at an appropriately qualified authorised workshop. Volkswagen recommends an ID. UNYX Service Center.
Cleaning the wiper blades
Place the wiper brush arm in the maintenance position before cleaning.
- Lift the wiper brush arm, grasping only the wiper brush arm.
- Carefully clean the wiper blade with a damp sponge.
- When cleaning is complete, carefully place the wiper brush arm onto the front windscreen.

① Unlock button for wiper brush blades.
- Place the wiper in the maintenance position.
- Lift up the wiper brush arm, grasping only the wiper brush arm.
- Press and hold the unlock button
①and pull out the wiper blade in the direction of the arrow at the same time. - Attach a new wiper blade of the same length and type to the wiper arm until it clicks into place.
- Carefully place the wiper brush arm onto the front windscreen.
WARNING
Using damaged or dirty wiper blades reduces windscreen visibility and increases the risk of a vehicle accident and serious injury to occupants.
Always clean dirty wiper blades.
Always replace the wiper blades if they are damaged or worn and can no longer clean the front windscreen adequately.
! NOTICE Cleaning the wiper blades or windscreen with unsuitable cleaning agents may cause them to be damaged. Do not use fuel oil, nail polish remover, paint thinner or similar liquids to clean the wiper blades and windscreen. Do not use hard sponges or other tools with sharp edges to clean the wiper blades.
If wax residue or other maintenance products remain on the windscreen after using an automatic car wash, this may cause increased wear of the wiper blades. Remove wax or other residues with a special cleaner or cleaning cloth.
